We'll give you a clue...they are made of bamboo and they have something to do with rice...
...here is a bit more of a clue:
The wheels turn with the movement of the river, water is carried up and to bamboo pipes which then flows into various other pipes irrigating the surrounding rice fields. The gravity fed system is a fascinating piece of engineering and a community venture in the small village of Pu Luong, Southwest of Hanoi.
Earlier in the year we (Nikki and Nicola) had the joy of visiting Pu Luong, and we absolutely loved it. The entire village was a delight as were the people. Late one afternoon, our guide took us on a walk through some rice fields to the river where we discovered these Bamboo Water Wheels.
