Jack Bree and his wife Kathy travelled to Vietnam in November 2018. On their return they sent us such wonderful and fun photos we wanted to share them with all our customers...

My wife Kathy and I had always wanted to do a trip through Vietnam to follow its history, experience its people and view the beautiful countryside that we had heard about from friends who had been there.

We had a desire to experience the country away from its prime tourist spots and wanted to go “side road” rather than “main road” to see what life is really like in a country with a history of conflict and redevelopment.

Our next job was to find a travel agent who could provide an itinerary for us that would deliver what we wanted. In Travelbay, we found the perfect fit after a recommendation from friends of ours that had booked their Vietnam trip with them a year earlier.

Nikki, Fiona and Elodie understood exactly what we were after and delivered for us an itinerary that will linger long in our memories and gave us an experience of daily life in Vietnam that we may not otherwise have been able to access.

The photo’s you will see in this blog probably don’t do full justice to what we experienced. We were fortunate to visit villages in the Mekong Delta, Hoi An and Sapa areas including being hosted by families inside their homes which was just fantastic. Their friendliness and hospitality was an enduring memory for us.

In our travels around with our Sapa based guide we stumbled upon a traditional Ethnic Minority village wedding in the Lai Chau district close to Sapa. At their insistence they invited us into the reception to celebrate with them on what was the 2nd of a 3 day celebration. Lots of dancing, rice wine and goat meat made for an unplanned experience we will always treasure.

In Saigon, Hoi An, Hanoi and Sapa we were blessed with guides that spoke excellent English and were lovely people who had extensive knowledge of recent and ancient Vietnamese history. Through them we were able to gain an appreciation of life in Vietnam.

Mekong Delta fruit - beautiful taste

Given the Vietnamese peoples focus on family values and strong work ethics we came to understand just why Vietnam has one of the fastest growing world economies. They are a fine example of how life should be led and we would encourage anyone considering a trip to Vietnam to just go and do it, you will be empowered by the memories if you do!

And when you do decide to make the trek, contact Nikki, Fiona and Elodie at Travelbay to discuss your itinerary. We did not have one single hitch in 14 days travelling in pick up / drop off times by our guides, quality of hotel, travel arrangements or excursions.

Every minor detail of our itinerary went to plan which we were grateful for and we will be using Travelbay again for future trips overseas. The ladies at Travelbay were professional, helpful and caring in ensuring we were happy with the plans they proposed for us and we would have no hesitation in recommending them as your travel partner.

Thank you Jack and Kathy for your wonderful photos and feedback.
